On-going QPR training

Behavioral health offers QPR (Question, Persuade, and Refer) training. This suicide prevention training is a brief educational program designed to teach attendees to recognize and refer someone at risk of suicide, the warning signs of a suicide, and how to respond by following three steps:

  • Question the individual’s desire or intent regarding suicide.
  • Persuade the person to seek and accept help.
  • Refer the person to appropriate resources.

Why is QPR training important?

QPR training teaches people without professional mental health backgrounds to recognize the signs that someone may be considering suicide, establish a dialogue, and guide the person to seek professional help.

The two-hour training is delivered by certified YKHC instructors and the session will be from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. every other Friday. Training room location TBA with email confirmation for the class registration or reminder.

Registration is required through HealthStream. Log on to HealthStream, navigate to your to-do list and find the QPR training. You will be able to register for specific dates from there. We look forward to seeing you in class.

If you have any questions, you can contact Richard Robb at 543-6335.
