Safety Message: Emergency Management Update

November 7 to 11 was the final week of a four week Emergency & Disaster Response Training series required for all Managers and Directors throughout the organization. The training was focused on the structure and navigation of our new Emergency Operations Plan, methods for communicating during emergencies, including the implementation of portable two-way radios for Bethel-based departments and facilities, fire and evacuation training using the new EVAC 123 tagging system, and finally, training on the National Incident Management System (NIMS) and Incident Command System (ICS). Thank you to those that participated in this training. If you are a manager or director and were unable to attend this series, please reach out to Michelle Hicks for additional training dates.

On December 5, we will be testing several emergency response procedures that were reviewed in this recent training series. Please note that during this Full-Scale Exercise (FSE), your department or facility may be asked to participate on some level as we test specific areas in our ability to effectively respond in emergency incidents. This exercise will not disrupt patient care and staff involvement will be minimal.

Thank you for your continued support and engagement as we diligently work to increase our level of preparedness and resiliency to unexpected events.
