Materials Management does cross training within the department. This process fits into the Lean Hospital we are becoming. As Chrissie always says, “We all know each other’s business”. 

The picture is of Phillip Brink, MM Warehouse Supervisor, and Paul Jenkins, Supply Process Distribution Tech (SPD). They are training in the Supply Distribution Analyst (SDA) position. The SDA is the person who scans supplies in par rooms at the hospital and LTC in the morning. (We have 16 par rooms). After the supplies are picked at the warehouse, the SDA puts the supplies away in each specific par room.

To get the “count” and put supplies away at the OR/Surgery our team has to put on the proper attire, which you see Phillip and Paul in.
