The time of year many of us are decorating for the holiday! It’s important to always ensure that is being done safely, so here are the 12 days of safety:
- Don’t stand on a chair to decorate. Use a ladder.
- Never hang decorations from fire sprinklers.
- Decorations should be 18 inches below or away from fire sprinklers.
- Ensure all electrical items are nationally certified.
- Inspect all cords for damages before use.
- Avoid overloading outlets.
- Never try to make a 3-prong plug fit a two-prong outlet.
- Turn off all decorations before leaving work.
- Don’t place cords in high-traffic areas.
- Don’t connect power strips to other power strips.
- Never nail or staple cords to walls or other items.
- Don’t place cords on walls or ceilings.
