Suicide Prevention QPR Training Opportunity

As part of the Zero Suicide Task Force initiative of suicide prevention in the YK Delta, on April 29 and 30, 2021 Behavioral Health will begin conducting a two-hour QPR (Question, Persuade, and Refer) training. This class will be offered on a weekly basis, every Thursday and Friday until end of July. You will only need to attend one of the class to receive certification!

This suicide prevention training is a brief educational program designed to teach how to recognize and refer someone at risk of suicide, understanding and identifying the warning signs of suicidal ideation, and knowing how to respond by following three steps:

· Question the individual’s desire or intent regarding suicide

· Persuade the person to seek and accept help

· Refer the person to appropriate resources

The two-hour training is delivered by certified YKHC instructors and the session will be conducted on Zoom from 10 a.m. until 12 p.m. For more information about QPR training, click here.

Registration is required through HealthStream. Click here to see the course on HealthStream. You can also find the class by going to www.healthstream.com/hlc/ykhc and searching the course catalog for “QPR”. Please view the attached job aid on how to register for this class. We look forward to seeing you.

If you have any questions about registration, please reach out Miranda Johansson at ext. 6830.
