Resources for Staff Affected by Stress

We work for a health care organization. By the very nature of our jobs, it is stressful. COVID-19 is disruptive to our lives, and we don’t know how long it will be before things go back to normal. In our jobs, we may see things, hear things and experience things that affect us negatively. Don’t allow these negative, stressful feelings to be bottled up inside. We want you to know there are resources out there for you.

Unum and ComPsych offer Employee Assistance Programs (EAP) for YKHC employees. Unum’s HealthAdvocate (http://www.guidanceresources.com) site has webinars, tips and articles that you may find beneficial.  Included are resources about COVID-19, personal growth, and topics on relationships, your finances and help with legal matters.

Unum’s EAP offers live, 24 hour help via phone (866-465-8930) or online at guidanceresources.com, for up to 6 people that live with you. You may also access this free EAP up to 6 months after you quit.

SAMHSA (Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration) offers a Disaster Distress Helpline. Call 1-800-985-5990 or text TalkWithUs to 66746 to connect with a trained crisis counselor. We’ve also included a copy of a presentation that was provided by CIGNA in April, 2020 that addresses Stress and Loneliness as an impact of COVID: Click here for that presentation.

Lastly, here is a link to the local National Alliance of Mental Illness, which offers more resources around COVID-19: https://www.namialaska.org/online-support-groups

For questions about these resources, please contact your benefits staff at hrbenefits@ykhc.org or contact Eva Malvich at 907-543-6096.
