Travel-related COVID-19 employee health protocols

As communicated on May 29, employees unaffected by the furlough are allowed to take Paid Time Off (PTO). However, regardless of existing State health mandates, all employees must follow YKHC-issued COVID-19 guidance upon return to work. The guidance sent on May 29 is available here.

If you are planning to request leave, please familiarize yourself with the quarantine length guidelines to be followed upon return, as they will depend on whether PTO is spent in-region, in-state (but out-of-region), or out-of-state.

Regardless of the length of quarantine, all employees who travel out-of-region must complete 14 days of twice-daily temperature monitoring and daily attestation for symptoms. Click here to access the Temperature Monitoring Form and Daily Attestation for Symptoms. Day 1 is the day the employee returns to the region.

Helpful reminders + additional guidance:

  • All PTO requests must be submitted through Kronos Workforce Dimensions and indicate whether leave will be spent in-region, in-state (but out-of-region), or out-of-state (outside of Alaska or internationally).
  • Required duration of quarantine upon return is determined by the YKHC COVID-19 Response Team and is based on the location of PTO. Reference previous guidance to understand quarantine requirements. Please note, quarantine length may increase depending on PTO location.
  • All employees planning to travel out-of-state must email the COVID-19 Response Team (and CC: their manager) at least one week prior to departure to receive advisement on required quarantine process to follow upon return. Staff who fail to email in advance of an out-of-state trip will default to a 14-day quarantine period upon return.
  • Employees must submit completed Temperature Monitoring Form and Daily Attestation for Symptoms to their immediate supervisor. Immediate supervisors must ensure the form has been fully completed and is done in a timely manner.
  • Supervisors must submit completed Temperature Monitoring Form and Daily Attestation for Symptoms for their employees to Employee Health in a timely manner. Employee Health will help to verify these forms and employee health protocols have been completed by cross-referencing Kronos leave reports generated by Finance.

It is important to understand these requirements are in place to protect the health and well-being of our customers, colleagues, and the public. Staff who fail to fully complete the temperature monitoring, daily attestation for symptoms, and YKHC-advised quarantine requirements are subject to progressive discipline.

Thank you for your commitment to health of our region during this global pandemic. Stay tuned for additional quick-reference materials outlining these guidelines. Have questions in the meantime? Please reach out to your manager.
