Cerner and Windows Upgrade

On November 9 your VDI is going to look… different. IT will have completed a four month transition from Cerner Millennium 2015 to 2018 and Windows 7 to Windows 10.

This will be the equivalent of receiving a new computer. Whatever personal shortcuts or files are on your current EHR64 desktop will not transfer automatically. If you wish to transfer them manually simply save them to your homedirs and open them from your new Windows 10 virtual desktop.

Key differences:

Cleaner desktop: If you’re missing a desktop icon it may have been moved to the “Cerner Favorites” folder.

Logging Out: The log off option has been renamed “Sign out”. From the Start Menu, click the User Account icon to access.

Search Bar: Search everything. Windows 10 has a robust search engine and the search bar is now located outside the Start Menu.

Other Key differences include: Start Menu, Adding Shortcuts to your Desktop from Start menu Programs, and Accessing System Settings (Control Panel). For details click Key Differences Between Windows 7 and Windows 10 and you’ll be taken to the HEAT Knowledge Center.
