The theme for 2019 World Pharmacists Day, recognized on September 25, was “Safe and effective medicines for all,” The purpose of this theme was to highlight the key role pharmacists play in protecting patients through improved medicine use and reduced medication errors.

“Pharmacists use their broad knowledge and unique expertise to ensure that people get the best from their medicine,” said International Pharmaceutical Federation (IPF) President Dominique Jordan. “We ensure access to medicine and there appropriate use, improve adherence, coordinate care transitions, and so much more. Today, more than ever, pharmacists are charged with the responsibility to ensure that when a patient uses a medicine, it will not cause harm.”

Currently, YKHC Pharmacy has 17 pharmacists on staff.  The organization has additional Pharmacists in other departments (like Diabetes and EHR) as well.  Pharmacists play a major role in patient care. Thank you to all our pharmacists for all you do, Happy World Pharmacists Day!
