I can tell you that I have learned a lot in this program. It was a great start, especially getting to hear from Senior Leadership Team and previous graduates of Compass. It was great to hear how many people have advanced with this program and I hope to do the same once I am finished.

So far, we have had the chance to participate in department rotations. This shows us how we are all connected as a whole. It is amazing to see how we all contribute to the mission Working Together to Achieve Excellent Health. In Compass we have also read Crucial Conversations. This book taught me a lot, as we deal with conversations like this in our everyday lives aside from work. We have also explored and learned about various personality types. After working with the various personality types, that tool will help with how we can work with our surroundings. Currently as a Cohort, we are working on a group project that supports YKHCs mission, vision and values. We are currently working on dealing with Key Point Indicators (KPIs) and that teaches us how we can reach a goal in a certain amount of time and seeing what our barriers are.

I am very grateful to be a part of this program. It has taught me a lot such as different sets of leadership styles & personality styles and project management. I am also most importantly grateful for everyone that has contributed as a team player in our group project. If it was not for them, we wouldn’t have come this far. I want to extend my gratitude to Jennifer Nixon, for taking her time to instruct a mix of diverse personalities willing to learn and take the extra step of our comfort zones. Also to my mentor Rahnia Boyer for teaching me different leadership styles and continuing to coach me through program. Last but not least I would like to especially thank my manager Elaine Simeon for not giving up on me as I constantly leave my office and touch base with her on what I am learning when I return back to work.
