Updates to employee eligibility for vehicle insurance and driving YKHC vehicles

In an effort to meet the requirements of our insurance company and protect the safety of staff, customers and vehicles, YKHC is partnering with SambaSafety, an outside company that monitors driver records. A driving record is information tracked by the Department of Motor Vehicles and includes any speeding tickets, traffic violations, accidents and major violations like DUIs.

Effective 1/1/2024,  any employee who operates a YKHC vehicle (including ATVs, boats, and snow-machines) and/or travels for YKHC business (including CME and training) will have their driver’s license run through state DMV records by SambaSafety. Driving records are monitored over the last three years for violations and for the last five years for drug and alcohol motor vehicle violations (DUI’s)

This review will generate a score that helps ensure all our drivers are safe and eligible to be covered by YKHC insurance. Employees who are in the Green or Yellow range are able to be added to our insurance. If any employee’s driving record falls within the Red range, he/she will be ineligible to be placed on YKHC’s insurance and operate YKHC vehicles or rental cars. The chart below gives more details on how scores are assigned to driver records.

Thank you to all managers who have assisted with getting employees signed up and on our insurance to operate or rent vehicles! If you have not yet signed up to be on YKHC insurance, you must do so before you drive a YKHC vehicle or rent a car for YKHC-sponsored travel. The  required forms can be found in the Procedure on YKHC Vehicle Use in MCN Policy Manager, linked HERE.

For any questions or to sign up for driving, reach out to Kevin Tressler in Risk Management at Kevin_Tressler@ykhc.org.
