After several years of planning and conversations with senior leadership, department leads and a cross-departmental steering committee to assess the needs of each department and the organization, we are excited to announce the renovation of the Community Health Services Building (CHSB) is underway!

Some of the highlights of the renovation plans include:

• Expanded training areas for CHAP department
• Dedicated space for New Employee Orientation (NEO)
• Centralized breakroom
• Employee Wellness Center increased to nearly twice its current size (see more on current fitness center memberships below)
• More space for IT storage and finance departments
• Dedicated lactation room
• Updated finishings and look to the CHSB

This multi-phase improvement and renovation project, managed by YKHC Construction and ASKW-Davis, begins in April and is scheduled to be complete by Fall 2024.

How this affects you

During the first phase of the remodel, everything on the first floor and the area on the second floor marked in red on the map below (suite that currently houses Research and PR) will be remodeled. On the first floor, there will be passage from the front and back entrances to the stairs and elevators. The mail room and department boxes will remain accessible. All other parts of the first floor will be under construction and off-limits.

Throughout the remodel process, affected departments within each phase will be temporary relocated to vacant workspaces. Transition meetings will be held prior to the start of each phase with the affected departments to ensure each department’s needs are met within the temporary work areas. Near the completion of each phase, the affected departments will meet to review the new space prior to moving back in.

Special notice for YKHC Wellness Center members

The Wellness Center (gym) located on the first floor of CHSB will close until further notice beginning June 1, 2023. Members of the Wellness Center may continue to use the facility through the month of May. Unless cancelled earlier, automatic payroll deductions for membership fees will cease May 19.  

As an alternative to the Wellness Center, YKHC offers a benefit to employees in which it subsidizes the majority of the membership fee at the YK Fitness Center—the pool and gym operated by the City of Bethel.  The YK Fitness Center offers several membership plans and payment options. To learn more about this option, click HERE or contact the YK Fitness Center directly at ykfc@cityofbethel.net. You may also contact Nellie Carroll, HR Benefits Manager, via email or at ext. 6223, with any questions or concerns.
