Welcome new CHAP Supervisor Instructors Tamara Ayapan and Carmen Murat

The Community Health Aide Program would like to formally introduce two new additions to the department: Tamara Ayapan and Carmen Murat. Both have accepted the Supervisor Instructor positions with Field Supervision in January 2023.

Tamara Ayapan’s hometown is Kwethluk. She started her career with CHAP as a Community Health Aide based in Kwethluk in 2016. She completed her Health Aide training in April 2020, and her Preceptorship in October 2021. Tamara was a Supervisor Instructor with CHAP from November 2019 to March 2022. She worked as the Health Aide Support Counselor with Behavioral Health in March 2022 before transferring back to CHAP in January 2023.

Tamara is a proud mother of 6 children with husband Nicholas Ayapan. She is fluent in both English and Yupik, with Yupik as her first language. She has a strong connection with the Yupik values: Honesty, Trust, and Humor.

Carmen Murat grew up in Aniak. She started her career with CHAP as a Community Health Aide based in the Aniak SRC. She returned to CHAP as a Session III Community Health Aide. Her work history also includes case management and medical assistant experience based out of Anchorage. Carmen worked as a Care Coordinator with YKHC’s Behavioral Health Department before transferring back to CHAP.

Carmen and her Husband Conan Murat moved back to Bethel in 2021. She is the mother of two amazing children. 

Carmen states: “I am very excited to work within CHAP to support our Health Aides who do such an amazing and important job for the people of our region.  Thank you all for the warm welcome!”
