Tobacco Prevention and Cessation hosts successful “Five Years Tobacco-free!” event

Thank you for joining us in our joy as the YKHC Tobacco Prevention and Cessation Program celebrated five years of tobacco-free operations on February 5!

The purpose of the event was to express gratitude to the Tobacco Prevention and Cessation staff, visitors, and patients for their support of the organization’s policies. It is critical that we focus our messaging on how the policy advances our mission of promoting everyone’s and the communities’ health by creating a healthier environment for everyone to access when they visit our facilities.

When enforcing the rules, we usually inform people that they do not have to stop using tobacco, but they cannot use it while visiting our sites. Our mission includes improving the health of the people and communities we serve. We believe it is our responsibility to take the lead on this critical issue and promote a healthy environment by abstaining from nicotine use.

YKHC declared a tobacco-free campus on February 5, 2018. This means that all areas of the campus, both owned and leased, are tobacco-free.
