Recognizing National Pharmacist Day today, January 12

We recognize our dedicated, committed and highly-trained pharmacists who serve us, in tandem with other providers, when we fall sick.

None of us is immune to illnesses and diseases; medicine is something that we will all need at some point in our lives or another. Often times, our valued pharmacists are the ones working behind the scenes to provide us with medicine when we feel sick.

Throughout the world and since ancient times, pharmacists have played an integral role in producing drugs that have cured different ailments. Indeed, inventions by past and present pharmacists save many lives daily.

Pharmacists provide pharmaceutical advice to the community and primary health services, with the goal of preventing sickness and promoting health. Pharmacists undergo university or graduate-level education to understand the mechanisms and actions of drugs, drug uses, therapeutic roles, side effects, potential drug interactions, and monitoring constraints. Moreover, pharmacists study the relationship between this knowledge and its impact on anatomy, physiology, and pathophysiology. Pharmacists interpret and communicate this specialized knowledge to patients, physicians, and other health care providers to promote health in the communities they serve.

The commitment to the research work of pharmacists have produced drugs that have saved many lives and alleviated the impact of minor and major illnesses and diseases. Today and every day, our pharmacists deserve respect from people around the world for their dedicated work.

We celebrate our YKHC pharmacists for their contribution to the delivery of quality health care in our region.  Be sure to thank your pharmacists for their service on your next visit!

Happy National Pharmacists Day to our dedicated pharmacists!
