Do you know what to do in the event you get hurt at work? This week’s safety message covers what to do if you need to report a workplace injury.
- If you have life threatening injury, seek emergency help: call 911.
- For all other injuries/exposures, the immediate next step is to report your injury to your supervisor.
- You and your supervisor/manager should call Medcor together immediately when the injury occurs.
- If your supervisor is not available, you must still call Medcor to report your injury.
- Medcor will initiate a 6101, the required Report of Injury Form and submit it to ANIC—the Alaska National Insurance Co, our WC Insurer.
- Medcor will send your workplace injury information to ANIC and YKHC for further processing.
- HR will contact you to sign the 6101, Report of Injury form generated from the Medcor call.
- Alaska National Insurance may contact you for further information. Be timely in responding to them.
