How to understand your paid time off (PTO) balance in Kronos

In Kronos, YKHC’s timekeeping application, the homepage has a “My Time Off” tile that displays an employee’s PTO Available Balance

The PTO Available Balance is calculated using a three-step formula: (one) it begins with your current PTO balance, (two) minus any upcoming PTO requests already approved by your manager, (three) and adding any PTO that will be accrued from now until your PTO ends.

The following is an example of a PTO Available Balance calculation, with an employee that has PTO approved for August 23-27.

This employee has a current PTO balance of 239.79 hours, they are taking 40 hours of PTO, and will accrue 10.50 of PTO from August 7 until the last day of their PTO on August 27. Following the three-step formula above, the PTO Available Balance that will display on the employee’s “My Time Off” tile in Kronos is 210.29 hours.
