Adequately informing patients about their rights during his or her encounter with the hospital

The Joint Commission requires that staff are oriented to patient rights, including ethical aspects of care, treatment, or services and the process used to address ethical issues based on their job duties and responsibilities (HR.01.04.01 EP 3). Staff are encouraged to go into Policy Manager/MCN and become familiar with their responsibilities in providing patients with information about their rights as outlined in YKHC’s Patient Rights & Responsibilities policy (Compliance _001).

If you need assistance with finding this policy, contact your supervisor/manager or the Performance Improvement department.

We also have a patient’s rights form (RI_002_CORP), that can either be handed to the patients, or be posted in each patient care area.

If you need color copies of this poster, please contact Public Relations.
