Reminder: Post-travel Employee Health Protocols

A reminder to all staff that to protect the health and safety of our customers and staff, YKHC has implemented quarantine and testing requirements for employees returning from any personal or business travel.

CLICK HERE to access a quick reference guide on what protocols employees must follow when returning from travel in-region, out-of-region (but in state), or out-of-state. This guidance is subject to change based on recommendations by the CDC and other medical experts monitoring response to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Quarantine means that upon arrival in Bethel, employees must go straight to your residence and do not leave except for medical emergencies or needs. New and returning employees must plan to arrive in Bethel with enough food and supplies at your residence to last until your quarantine period is completed.

A comprehensive guide for travel-related COVID-19 employee health protocols was sent via email to all staff on June 5 and is available on the Intranet HERE. Again, a quick reference guide is available on the Document Library HERE.

Key reminders + guidance upon return/arrival to Bethel:

  • Staff who fail to fully complete the temperature monitoring, daily attestation for symptoms, and YKHC-advised quarantine requirements are subject to progressive discipline. The form is available on Policy Manager HEREDay 1 is the day the employee returns to the region.
  • Get tested for COVID-19 at the airport in Bethel.
  • If you have been approved for a 5 day quarantine, this means not leaving your housing except for emergencies. Please make arrangements to have food and other necessities available to you upon your return. You are allowed to leave once a day for exercise out of doors but you must remain 20 feet away from all non-household members.
  • We strongly recommend that you self-isolate for 14 days even if you have been approved for a 5-day quarantine. We recommend that you report to work and return directly home, go to the grocery store only if absolutely necessary and avoid all others not in your household. Exercising outside is allowed (and recommended for your health) but if you are participating in group exercise, stay 20 feet away from all non-household members.
  • If you have been recommended a 14-day quarantine, this means not leaving your housing except for emergencies. Please make arrangements to have food and other necessities available to you upon your return. You are allowed to leave once a day for exercise out of doors but you must remain 20 feet away from all non-household members.
  • Get a rapid COVID-19 test scheduled for the day before you are scheduled to return to work. To schedule this you will need to contact the COVID scheduling role on Tiger Text at least 24 hours in advance of when you need the test.
  • Check and record your temperature for 14-days and record on the form provided by employee health. This also includes a daily attestation of your symptoms.
  • If you get even the slightest bit sick, contact COVID response team right away by calling 543-6949 to make arrangements for testing. Many people with COVID have very mild symptoms (i.e. mild runny nose, slight body aches) but can still make other people sick.
  • If you share a household with someone who hasn’t traveled, please be careful upon your return. We recommend that you disinfect the surfaces in your household frequently, use separate bathrooms if possible (disinfect between use if not possible), try to stay 6 feet away from each other, etc.

It is important to understand these requirements are in place to protect the health and well-being of our customers, colleagues, and the public. Staff who fail to fully complete the temperature monitoring, daily attestation for symptoms, and YKHC-advised quarantine requirements are subject to progressive discipline.

Thank you for your commitment to health of our region during this global pandemic.
