Reminder: YKHC Vehicle Use Policy & Drug Use Policy

To ensure we do our jobs for the best interests of our customers & fellow staff, it is imperative that we stay aware of our policies at YKHC. It goes without saying, as a YKHC employee, you have signed a contract agreeing to abide by these polices.

YKHC Vehicle Use Policy:

YKHC’s vehicle policy states the following:

Drivers of YKHC Vehicles are required to:

• Possess a valid Driver’s License, Obey all Traffic Laws, Report accidents immediately to their supervisor. (call police, exchange information with other driver). All Employees riding in a YKHC Vehicle must have/wear a seatbelt. Return all YKHC Vehicles to the YKHC Campus at the end of the day and return the keys.

When not in use, YKHC Vehicles must be:

• Locked, parked in a well-lit visible area and if possible an area that is under Video Surveillance (like the front parking lot of CHSB).All tools, electronic equipment or valuables should not be visible or they should be removed from vehicle.

The following are not allowed in YKHC Vehicles:

• Cell Phone use while driving, smoking or tobacco use, of any kind, firearms, drugs or alcohol. Friends or Family members (Site Visitors are allowed), pets. Employees are not allowed to ride in the back of YKHC trucks.

YKHC Vehicles taken home at night:

• Employee must be on call and requires a Supervisor’s permission. No family/friends are allowed to ride or drive a YKHC vehicle. Employees are not allowed to drive after consuming alcohol or drugs. Vehicle must be locked when not in use. No personal use of YKHC Vehicles after normal business hours (hauling personal boats/trailers, shopping, going to a restaurant, driving children to school or activities, going on the Ice Road, etc).

These Guidelines are pursuant to YKHC’s Vehicle Use Policy. Drivers found in violation of these guidelines will receive a written warning on the first offence. A second violation will result in a one-year suspension of driving privileges in a YKHC vehicle.

YKHC Drug Use Policy

YKHC’s Drug Free and Alcohol Free Workplace States:

YKHC is committed to a drug-free and alcohol-free workplace. The use, possession, distribution, or manufacture of illegal or unauthorized drugs, controlled substances, inhalants, drug paraphernalia, or alcohol, during or close to working time or at YKHC premises or facilities is prohibited. Employees are required to comply with the Drug Free Workplace Act and with YKHC’s drug and alcohol testing policies as a condition of employment. Drug and alcohol related crimes outside working hours may also affect YKHC employment.

This policy covers all employees and prospective employees. Contractors and consultants performing work in YKHC facilities shall be required to apply comparable Drug Free and Alcohol Free policies to their employees.

Definitions:

Workplace:  Includes premises and facilities controlled or used by YKHC, in whole or in part; vehicles and equipment; and locations where employees perform work or represent the Corporation, temporarily or permanently, such as out-of-town seminars and conference locations, clinic facilities, and training facilities.

Job Candidate and employee: Pertains to any and all individuals who are required to complete the YKHC background checks prior to employment to include but not limited to students, interns, fellows, contractors, and consultants.

Unauthorized drugs and controlled substances: Include, without limitation: Medication prescribed for someone other than the employee.
