PJCP Updates

Project Overview
The three-story expansion doubles outpatient clinics, growing from three clinics to six. The new facility has upgraded YKHC’s adult and pediatric inpatient units, as well as a new Labor & Delivery suite. The renovated hospital will comprehensively update the Emergency Department, include the addition of a Behavioral Health Decision Unit, Operating Room, Radiology and Dietary. The new Nunapik employee apartments are completed and include 19 two-bedroom units and 35 efficiency units.

In the summer or 2020, the ER will be completed, along with the connector/Gathering Space.

In July, through August, the following departments moved in to the new facility.

1st floor: Outpatient Clinics and Outpatient Pharmacy. The Laboratory’s partial completion is expected November 12.

3rd floor: Optometry, Infusion, Audiology, Hospital Administration, Respiratory Therapy, Inpatient Pharmacy, Labor and Delivery, Acute Care.

PJCP Move-In Schedule
Departments that will occupy the second floor are scheduled to move into their new space throughout the month of November.

PJCP Move-In Process
Staff will be provided with two boxes to store work related items that will be moved. Boxes will be labeled with blue tape identifying the owner and room number. Computers and other accessories will be labeled in the same manner. Technology will move computer equipment. Facilities will move boxes, file cabinets, etc.

It is suggested all employees moving wait until you are established in your new area prior to bringing personal items to your workspace.

YKHC established a Cultural Committee to review and select all art that will be hung in the new space. This commissioned artwork is making its way to YKHC in phases. Artwork will continue to arrive throughout the winter. YKHC is working to hire a curator for the display cases. Once the large pieces have arrived, we will work on placing the smaller pieces a well as comprehensive labeling. A friendly reminder not to hang any artwork, signage, or posters in the new facility without prior approval.

Corporate Flu Shot Status

2019/20 Flu Vaccine Update
Staff flu shots are available through the month of October.

It is mandatory for all staff to have the current flu vaccination, by Oct. 31, as part of our corporate effort to protect our patients and other staff. Free flu shots are available from Employee Health Nurse Linda Mertens, available at ext. 6321. If you are in Bethel, Linda can come to your department to administer multiple shots. Help YKHC achieve its goal of obtaining 100% employee inoculation.
