October 13-19: International Infection Prevention Week

The 2019 theme for International Infection Prevention Week (IIPW) is “Vaccines are Everybody’s Business.” Vaccines present an easy way to stay healthy and prevent infections from spreading. Help us celebrate all the infections prevented and lives saved this year!

This year’s International Infection Prevention Week will focus on vaccine-preventable diseases. Visit the IIPW website for free vaccination infographics, social media posts, and more. Visit the IIPW website for free vaccination infographics, social media posts, and more. Learn more here.

YKHC recognizes the importance of vaccines and herd immunity. We are providing flu vaccines for employees and community members. Our Employee Health Nurse, Linda Mertens, has been very busy providing employees with their flu shots. YKHC is also providing flu shots for community members in the hospital and throughout the community during different events coming up, so watch for announcements!

Additionally, each of us—patients, families, and healthcare personnel—has an important role to play in keeping patients safe from infection. First and foremost, know the basics of infection prevention. Do your part—hand hygiene is key!
