Technology’s Simulates Email Phishing Attack

On August 22, 2019, the Technology Department sent out an email intended to look like a message from GCI. This was a phishing test, a test simulating a form of attack that might be used by criminals or malicious actors to gain access to YKHC computer systems and data. The test message was sent to 1,701 YKHC email addresses. The results showed 5.5% of those who received the message opened it and 3.3% of recipients clicked on a link in the message. The national average for the Healthcare industry is 2.13%, according to the 2019 Verizon Data Breach Investigations Report. The Technology Department will do additional testing and security awareness training in the coming weeks.
