In honor of National Diabetes Month the Diabetes Prevention and Control (DP&C) department will be hosting several contests and events throughout the month of November. Check out where we’ll be and all of the cool prizes you could win below: Diabetes Booths: Every Wednesday from 11.am.- 1 p.m. DP&C will be in the lobby of CHSB and at the hospital offering A1c screenings and giving away fun prizes! AC Grocery Tours: Wednesday, November 14, DP&C staff will be holding grocery store tours at AC store from 3 – 5 p.m. teaching participants how to purchase healthier foods on a budget. Gift cards will be given to those who complete the tour for use towards the purchase of fruits and vegetables at AC. Wear Blue Day: Wednesday, November 14, is World Diabetes Day. To show your support of those affected by diabetes, please wear the color blue and take a photo with at least two other staff who are also wearing blue. Send your photo to DP&C. Be sure to include the names and phone numbers of everyone in the photo and you will receive a free DP&C t-shirt! Healthy Lunch Day Winners: In honor of the winners of September’s Tobacco Screening contest that was held for village clinics, several Bethel-based staff will be visiting Mekoryuk, Tununak and Kwethluk to celebrate National Diabetes Month with a healthy lunch provided by Ravenous Enterprises. National Diabetes Month Proclamations: Several communities in the region have agreed to proclaim November as National Diabetes Month in their communities, including: Kotlik, Bethel, Chevak, Kwigillingok, Pilot Station, Andreafski, Mekoryuk and Tununak. DP&C staff will be visiting several of these sites to celebrate! Foot Exam Contest: The clinic that performs the most documented foot exams, based on percentage of clients seen throughout the month of November, will receive DP&C swag! There will be two separate brackets: one for village clinics and one for Bethel outpatient clinics.
