Introducing Supervisor Instructor Danielle Paul

The Community Health Aide Program (CHAP) is proud to introduce their newest Supervisor Instructor Danielle Paul. Here is Danielle in her own words:

I am Danielle Paul from Kipnuk, AK. My parents are Joe and Louise Paul. My two siblings are Brian and Miranda Paul. My grandparents are David and Katie Paul of Kipnuk and Wilson and Fannie Charles of Bethel. My partner Leemon Carl and I have a daughter, AvaRae Carl.

In the past, I have been a one-on-one aide with the Special Ed program at the Chief Paul Memorial School in Kipnuk. I was a jail guard, then got promoted to a tribal police officer for the Native Village of Kipnuk. I then went on to becoming a health aide for seven years for both the village of Kipnuk and a float for our Delta region.

One of the many reasons I became a health aide was because I love helping my people, and I have always had the interest of getting into the health field, mostly after helping the health aides a lot with medevacs and first-hand emergencies when I was a tribal police officer. I loved the feeling of giving my people the best care I can give and educating them with the knowledge I have learned throughout the years, and continue to do so with the knowledge I continue to learn.

Throughout the years of being a health aide, I have always wanted to explore how far I can go with my career. I am now a community health practitioner, working in the CHAP department as a supervisor and graduating in April 2024, receiving my CHP certificate. Some of the reasons I wanted to move up to becoming a supervisor was that I wanted to experience new scenery and change of pace in my work space and to learn new skills and duties that can expand my knowledge.

When I am not working, I love going fishing for all kinds of fish and halibut fishing is my favorite. I also love listening to music and playing basketball. And one of the most recent interests I have been noticing is following baking recipes to make baked treats. Also, one of the things I love the MOST is watching my baby grow and explore just as I am growing and exploring with my career.
