Introducing Director of Safety & Security Romeo Mulai

Romeo Mulai was recently promoted to Director of Safety and Security.

Romeo was born in Albania and grew up in Greece.  He moved to Las Vegas in 2004 where he worked in the hospitality business and then came to Bethel in 2017.  Romeo worked for the City of Bethel Police Department as well as the Sobering Center and also met his wife and married in Bethel.  Romeo then became a Security Officer for YKHC and in 2023 was promoted to the Assistant Director for Safety & Security as he went through intensive Hospital Safety Management training, Life Safety Code, and Security MANDT certification.

Romeo shares, “When I am not at work I love spending time with my wife and our pets and going for walks around town, especially out in the tundra. I am thankful to have found such a peaceful community after moving from a big city.”

Welcome and congratulations Romeo!

I would also like to say a special thank you and express my heartfelt appreciation to Kathlena Tsosie for her years of service and dedication at YKHC.  She worked tirelessly improving the department, organizing emergency drills, and took on many additional responsibilities and tackled challenges as we responded to the pandemic.  We wish you the very best Kaye!
