Exciting things are happening in Aniak and St. Mary’s! The school in St. Mary’s hosted a basketball tournament and the staff at the clinic took advantage of that event to share educational materials and offer flu shots. Aniak’s dental team is back on village travel to serve our interior communities!
The Aniak sub-regional clinic dental team consisting of Dental Assistants Soren Simeon and Jared Thorson as well as Dental Health Aide Kathrine Levi are back on village travel!
Soren is working on getting signed off on her dental prophylaxis course certification. Once certified, she will be able to see patients for teeth cleaning.
This week, the team was in Holy Cross and will be in the following communities (weather permitting):
- Sleetmute, week of March 11
- Aniak, week of March 18
- Grayling, week of March 25

Staff at the St. Mary’s subregional clinic saw an opportunity to provide education and flu shots to attendees at the community school’s basketball tournament last week and they took it!
Dental Assistants Kirstina Sheldon and Elle McCasland worked with Dental Health Aide Therapist-Practitioner Renee Cheemuk to share educational material on oral hygiene instruction and the impacts on sugary drinks with sugary drinks displayed as visual aid while Community Health Aide Practitioner Janelle Lamont and Office Assistant Marlene Waska gave flu shots to event attendees.
