On November 9, the Blueberry Conference Room was buzzing with academic and community partners who had come together to join forces with YKHC and prospective hires who were eager to to see what job and/or education options were available to them.
The fair was well-received, with more than 100 prospective applicants attending the event. People came in waves, which set a comfortable pace throughout the day and allowing those in attendance to chat, connect, and share stories one with another. The mix of 15 YKHC departments and 7 community partners along with prospective hires and curious minds provided vibrancy to the event.
Much gratitude to the following departments: Women’s Health, Tobacco Cessation & Control, Environmental Services (EVS), Food Services & Dietary, Dental, Pharmacy, Outpatient, Emergency Medical Services (EMS), Behavioral Health, Emergency Department, and Women, Infants, Children (WIC), Travel Management Center (TMC), Travel Care Group (TCG), Prior Authorization (PA), and Medicaid Enrollment (ME) for being at the fair and promoting their departments and the job openings they were eager to fill.
Our academic and community partners were a perfect complement with representation from Orutsararmiut Native Council (ONC), Association of Village Council Presidents – Regional Housing Authority (AVCP- RHA), Yuut Elinaurviat, Alaska Pacific University (APU), UAF Kuskokwim Campus, Lower Kuskokwim School District (LKSD), and the State of Alaska Delta Job Center.
The HR team was well represented and worked in tandem with each other and with managers who were eager to move potential applicants through the recruitment and hiring process on the day of the fair. Indeed, the event demonstrated the power of working together with each other and with our valued community and academic partners to not only strive to fill job vacancies in our community, but to provide education options for entrance into and/or upward career mobility. The HR team members extend their deep gratitude to everyone who supported the fair in big and small ways. Onward and forward as we look forward to 2024 career fairs!
