Safety Session of the Week: Data Sheets

Safety Data Sheets! What are they and how do you find them?

Safety Data Sheets (SDS’s) are documents that list information relating to occupational safety and health for the use of various substances and products. SDSs are a widely used system for cataloging information on chemicals, chemical compounds, and chemical mixtures. SDS information may include instructions for the safe use and potential hazards associated with a particular material or product, along with spill-handling procedures. The older MSDS formats could vary from source to source within a country depending on national requirements; however, the newer SDS format is internationally standardized.

There is a link that is located on the YKHC intranet page that we use to direct us to the website to allow us to look up this information. If you don’t see a specific listing for a product in your department, please feel free to contact the safety team and we will work with you to get the Safety Data Sheet on the website!

Click here for a link to the site.

Contact your safety team to report any safety issues: Director of Safety and Security ext. 6593 or Assistant Director of Safety and Security ext. 6590. Safety risks can also be reported using the online reporting system, Quantros.
