IT-RAVEN Team Member Climbs Mountain

Berntina Sankwich climbs to raise awareness for gynecologic cancer.

In case you were wondering, RAVEN team members are more than meets the eye.

On September 14, 2019 following a bridge call for the Database Hardware Migration (part of the Code Upgrade project) that started at 2 a.m. and lasted until 7:30 a.m., Berntina Sankwich participated in the Alyeska Climbathon, a gynecologic cancer awareness and fundraiser event. Climbers run, walk, hike up the 2.2 mile North Face trail, ascending 2,200 vertical feet. A lap begins at the tram base and ends at the top of the tram. Participants descend the tram and repeat laps as many times as physically possible between 9 a.m. and 7 p.m. Berntina completed two laps on four hours of sleep.

Berntina holds the Informatics I position in the RAVEN department and has knowledge in a variety of areas including: scheduling, registration, behavioral health workflows, charge services, and orders…just to name a few. In 2019 she was instrumental in building the technological intricacies of the new facility, spending several hours in meetings and with her hands to the keyboard creating schedules, all while completing other job duties. In 2019 Berntina served 1,632 hours in the RAVEN on-call role.
